Wyoming Skullworks has been cleaning and preparing trophies for display since 2018. We are a small business owned and operated by Hannah Summers, a lifetime outdoorsperson, hunter, and competitive archer based out of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Wyoming Skullworks holds a valid taxidermist license issued by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.
Wyoming Skullworks uses a carefully crafted process to clean, degrease, and whiten your trophies for a lifetime of preservation. All skulls processed by Wyoming Skullworks are cleaned using dermestid beetles - a natural process which safely removes flesh and preserves all the intricate details of the bone and cartilage. Once cleaned, skulls are slowly degreased using a low-temperature degreasing bath to ensure there is no damage or weakening of the bone. Finally, skulls are whitened and sealed to preserve the perfectly white bone for a lifetime of display. Wyoming Skullworks prides itself on using a process that focuses on safe, effective bone cleaning rather than prioritizing an immediate turnaround and the use of harsh cleaning processes which damage your trophy.
Many skull cleaning services offer a fast turnaround, some as quick as one weekend. While some of these services may use beetles to clean their skulls, it is impossible to properly clean a skull without damage in just one weekend. A healthy beetle colony can efficiently clean a skull in 24 hours or less, depending on skull size. However, the degreasing process requires time - typically 30 days or longer - to properly remove all grease from the bone without breaking down the calcium and damaging the bone in any way. Many skull cleaning services will boil and/or pressure wash skulls to speed up this process. Unfortunately, skulls which have been boiled end up brittle and degrade over time. Skulls which have been power washed lose the many intricate cartilage details that make a trophy interesting. Wyoming Skullworks guarantees your skull will never touch boiling water or high pressure water, resulting in a trophy without damage that will stay as white as the day you received it back from us.

Wyoming Skullworks is in the process of moving to a new, larger location (still in Cheyenne). To facilitate an easier move, we are not taking in new skulls until we are settled into this new location. We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to serving customers again as soon as the move is completed!
